About the Course

Pharmacy assistants regularly provide support to people living with diabetes who visit the pharmacy.  This online training course will help pharmacy assistants learn about diabetes, how it can be managed and what support to offer.

 

This interactive online training will:

 

  • Provide you with a basic understanding of diabetes and how it can be managed
  • Enable you in your role as a pharmacy assistant to improve the support you provide to people living with diabetes
  • Help you to have a meaningful conversation and know when to refer the person to the pharmacist

Course Chapter Topics

This online diabetes course for pharmacy assistants covers diabetes basics and is made up of 8 chapters. Each chapter is around 15 minutes long and you can complete them at your own pace.

Online Delivery

Students have the flexibility to study in their own time online in the Diabetes Qualified Learning Management System. We recommend using a desktop computer or laptop with the Chrome website browser.

Knowledge Checks

Throughout the course the user will be asked ‘ knowledge check’ questions, these are multiple choice questions. This is not an assessment and no grades are provided. It is a ‘ self check ‘ for the user to help them confirm what they have learnt.

Certificate

On completion of the course participants will instantly be able to download a certificate of completion.

How can I access the course free of charge?

Once I start a course can I exit at any time and return at a later time?
Yes. You can exit the online course then log back in at any time. However it is recommended users complete an entire module before exiting. You have 12 months access to the course.
How do I download my Certificate of Completion?
Once you complete all the chapters, and complete the survey, you will be able to download a certificate of completion in your learning management system.
How long do I have access to the course?
You have 12 Months. The time is calculated from when you enrol into the online program. Friendly email reminders will be sent to you to ensure the course is completed within the time period. If you need an extension due to exceptional circumstances please email us.
What other resources can I access to learn more about diabetes?
We have a range of diabetes-related webinars as well as podcasts, and fact sheets. We also have a FREE supportive language module, designed for anyone who supports a person living with diabetes. In this module you will learn the importance of supportive language and tips to communicate effectively so that your communication is accurate, respectful, inclusive and free from judgement.
